Sunflowers: The Flower of August
With their bright golden petals and sunny disposition, sunflowers capture everything we love about late summer—warm days, gardens in full bloom, and that feeling that summer isn't quite ready to let go.
What Do Sunflowers Symbolize?
Sunflowers are often associated with happiness, admiration, loyalty, hope, and positivity.
There is also something special about the way they grow. Young sunflowers follow the sun across the sky during the day, which has made them a natural symbol of turning toward the light and looking toward brighter days.
It's one reason sunflowers make such meaningful flowers to give to someone you love or simply to brighten someone's day.
Why We Love Sunflowers
Sunflowers have a personality all their own. They're bold, cheerful, and impossible to overlook.
They look beautiful on their own, but they also pair wonderfully with other summer flowers like hydrangeas, roses, daisies, lisianthus, and seasonal greenery. Their warm yellow also looks beautiful with unexpected colors like lavender, purple, burgundy, and blue.
Whether you're celebrating a birthday, saying thank you, sending congratulations, or just letting someone know you're thinking of them, sunflowers bring a little sunshine to the occasion.
A Little Sunshine for Your Home
August goes by quickly. Before we know it, summer will be giving way to cooler days and fall colors.
For now, though, we're happy to enjoy the sunshine.
Bring a little August home with sunflowers from Coady Florist. They're bright, beautiful, and about as close as you can get to putting sunshine in a vase.
